Climbing in the Wuhlheide woods
Climbing in the Wuhlheide woods has been made possible on approximately one hectare of woodland featuring 75 pieces of climbing equipment on six different courses, all built into the surrounding trees as naturally as possible. Climbing enthusiasts can spend up to two hours navigating from tree to tree over wobbly bridges, in lightning-fast cable cars or even on skateboards without ever having to touch solid ground.
The different courses are named "Spaß" (fun), "Spiel" (play), "Fitness", "Training", "Abenteuer" (adventure) and "Risiko" (risk) respectively, and set climbing fans a range of different challenges. Only the bravest will climb up to ten metres high or dare to take the so-called Tarzan jump - one of the standout attractions in this part of the Wuhlheide woods. Beginners, and those who are not so brave, will start off two metres high.
Safety is of the highest order here. All climbers will be equipped with special climbing belts and additional carabiners (snap hooks), and ropes for double protection. This makes it impossible to fall. Before the visitor can take to the trees, our trained staff will give them instructions. Only once the little adventurers have tested their climbing skills on the lower parts of the apparatus can they take on the higher courses.

The Berlin-Brandenburg model park
On April 1st, the annual season of the Berlin-Brandenburg model park (estd. 2007) begins and introduces both Berliners and visitors to the city to some completely new and surprising perspectives. With carefully landscaped features, a miniature 3D plan of the counties of Berlin and Brandenburg extends across around one-and-a-half hectares.
All the important attractions are to be found here: 80 models of well-known and not so well-known landmarks of the region, each of them painstakingly built together by hand from endless individual components into a highly-detailed 1:25 replica of the original. The main attractions include the Reichstag building and the Pergamon Museum. These also constitute the largest of the models on display, each covering around 30 square metres of surface area. But you can also discover architectural delights of all the other areas of Berlin, some of which lie off the path typically ventured by tourists, for instance the Friedrichsfelde palace, the Köpenick palace or the Spandau town hall.

Wuhlheide park railway
The Wuhlheide park railway is operated by the not-for-profit Berliner Parkeisenbahn gGmbH (BPE). The vast majority of employees work with children and adolescents on a voluntary basis. Since 2011, a cooperation with the Technische Jugend Bildungs- und Beschäftigungs gGmbH has been in place to ensure the professionality of the BPE's work with children and adolescents, as promoted by the state of Berlin.
Visitors to the Wuhlheide park railway can experience the children's railway by taking a ride during its hours of operation and/or by watching the trains go by on special occasions. Highlights include the journeys made during Easter, Pentecost, on Children's day, when the children start school and on St. Nicholas' Day. "Merapi", our park railway café in the Eichgestell station, is open on event days for guests to relax and pass the time.
We take bookings all year round for (children's) birthday parties, coffee gatherings, private and professional functions. We rent out some of the train compartments or entire special trains, the Merapi café and the hall in the Eichgestell railway station for these purposes.
We offer schools and playschools project days for various age groups as part of their visit to Wuhlheide, and also interesting tours to teach the children about the history of railroad engineering and the application of this knowledge in the railway business.
Seasonal timeplans: prices and days of travel available on request from the BPE.
